History.-

The Castrillon Bagpipers Band makes his oficial appearance on january 2002.

This Band foudn his breeding ground in the bagpiper classes that were given in the "José Luis Rodríguez" School of Campiello and the Social Centre of Pillarmo with the sponsorship of the Cultural Municipal Foundation from the Castrillón City Council.

At that time the band was integrated by 25 members directed by José Manuel Tejedor, who was replaced in the summer of 2003 by Jonathan García López. In the summer of 2005 the direction of the band was replaced by Ernesto García García who is still in charge of the band.

The traditional costumes worn by the members of the band are originally from the central zone of Asturias and the band´s instruments are formed by ebany bagpipers, tuned in B-flat with bass and tenor drones; the percussion is formed by high voltage soundboxes, Kettledrums tenor and a bass drum.

The Bagpipers Band represents the main force of L´Alborcer Cultural Association, which was created with the purpose of encouraging the traditional asturian culture within the town council. Therefore the main aim of this Association is to encourage all tipe of our asturian cultural expressions, such as: dance, accordion, percussion, etc.
